Odins Gate

This is a personal project for my portfolio, and my first attempt in years working in gouache. It was a sketch that has been lying around for years, that I always wanted to finish. My initial idea was a female mage, but in the process she turned in to a priestess of Odin. In my digital color sketch I wanted to make some silvery magic words and symbol in the air around her, but in the end I felt that it wasn't necessary and left it out. Also you can see that she had a hood at first but I couldn't get i to work so I gave her a head set of horns instead. I will try to do the same picture again, only digital, and see how far I can take it, maybe in that version the magic words get to stay. I enjoyed it SO very much, and more project will come, having worked mostly digital the last 11 years as an illustrator, I find it very rewarding to study traditional media as well.
